Hotaru Hinase, a first-year high school student, treasures her family and friends above all else and has little interest in romance. However, when she witnesses the breakup of the handsome honor student Hananoi at a cafe, she extends a gesture of kindness by offering him her umbrella in the snow.
The following day, Hananoi surprises Hotaru by appearing in her classroom and asking her to be his girlfriend. Despite initially rejecting him, Hananoi persists in showing her kindness and selflessness. As Hotaru begins to experience unfamiliar emotions, she contemplates the possibility of falling in love and eventually agrees to date Hananoi.
